Prima edizione di questo racconto di viaggio in America di Brissot. L'autore, rivoluzionario e giornalista, dopo 4 anni di prigione intraprese un viaggio in America per promuovere la fine della schiavitù. Fra i vari racconti vi sono anche quello della cena con James Madison a Philadelphia e la visita alla famiglia Washington a Mount Vernon. Al ritorno dal viaggio venne ghigliottinato a Parigi.

First edition. Brissot de Warville was a revolutionary and journalist who was imprisoned for 4 months in the Bastille after publishing reformist books and articles. In 1788 he embarked on a tour of the United States promoting the anti-slavery cause. On his return to Paris he led Girondists but, when things subsequently turned against him, he was executed by guillotine. This work recounts his tour in America where he once dined with James Madison in Philadelphia and also visited the Washingtons at Mount Vernon. Contemporary calf, yellow edges (some soiling).
