Details: Antique disarmed/safe Civil War period hand grenade shell.

This hand grenade has been rendered safe. Approx. 3" in diameter, hollow iron. It has been cut across the diameter, presumably to remove contents. It also has a shaft running the length of its axis holding the two halves together. This is the type of grenade which would have had a fuse that is lit, and then it is thrown.

This lot is from the estate of a very well-known and well-respected lifetime Civil War collector in Upstate New York.
