Description
Details: This grand and rare Japanese Meiji Period (1868-1912) Satsuma Okimono Koro of an Elephant, is finely decorated with considerable artistry, with Shimazu mons painted over both sides of the elephant's saddle, has a worn and illegible marks of a Satuma artist on the belly of the elephant, stands on a carved hardwood plinth, and measures 14.5" tall to top of lid finial by 13" long from head to tail.
Condition / Notes: This lot is in Good condition with repaired cracks to lid of Koro, and with minor wear to gilt in places on elephant.
