The lithograph was bound at the beginning of an album of Krestin's works published in Vienna in 1924, in a limited edition of only 50 copies, with his signature.Â
The lithograph is signed in the plate, with another original signature at the bottom of the picture. In a passepartout frame.Â
Lazer Krestin [1868-1938] was one of the important artists in the genre of Judaic art. One of Isidore Kaufmann's leading students. He became famous for portrait paintings of Eastern-European Jewish figures. Worked in Munich, Vienna and Odessa until his immigration to Israel in 1910, at the invitation of Boris Schatz, the founder of Bezalel.
