Early Carved Walnut Continental Trunk. Heavy lid has 2 large inset panels with oversized iron escutcheon plate, large inset side panels with wrought iron handles, turned bun feet and an architectural designed front with half pilasters, arched panel with inlaid shield and dated above “1634”. The interior has a raised section with 3 small drawers and a left side compartment with lift top lid, large engraved iron strap hinges and a 2 panel back with dovetailed construction. Chest is in restored condition, has signs of worm damage and age; trim pieces are replaced and bracket is rebuilt. 25.5 in. high x 43.5 in. wide x 23 in. deep.
