Edo period, depicting the bodhisattva Ksitigarbha, also known as Jizo, of carved, polychrome-painted and gilt wood, the bodhisattva depicted in monk's robes and backed by a circular halo, seated on a double-lotus throne, on a pierced and carved giltwood base, 15.75'' H x 9'' W x 7.5'' D, est: $1000/2000

Condition
Overall good condition, with general wear and scattered cracks and losses to paint commensurate with considerable age, including an approximately .5'' x .25'' area of lost paint to figure's forehead. Glued repairs to halo. Figure lacking traditional attributes (staff and jewel) from hands. One 2'' x .5'' chip to upper tier of base.
