DESCRIPTION: An antique French writing slope. Features an overall white onyx foundation embellished with dore bronze hardware. the top of the slope features two dore bronze inkwells centered by a lidded compartment, backed by a gargoyle visage topped by a finial and enveloped with scrolled foliage. The slope itself is fitted with two hinged doors garnished by Gothic motifs of winged mythical creatures fitted with two scrolled acanthus leaf motif handles. Opens to reveal a floral motif tapestry embroidery. Fitted with a tassel that allows the center tapestry panel to lift and expose a barren compartment. Finished with four scrolled acanthus leaf motif feet.
