Imperial Porcelain Manufacturer, St. Peters-burg, Period of Nicholas I (1825-1855)An exquisite pair (2) of Russian hard paste porcelain dessert plates from the Kremlin service, made by the Imperial Porcelain Factory during the reign of Nicholas I. The center of the cavetto is painted with a black double-headed Imperial Eagle with crown, orb and scepter and surrounded by a gilt band inscribed "Nicholas the Emperor and Ruler of all the Russians." The elaborate border is decorated with blue and green flowers against a burnished gilt background.
