Description
A well engineered model of a John George Bodmer central cylinder live steam stationary engine, built by Mr D Russell of Frazerburgh from Anthony Mount drawings. These engines are of unusual design with central cylinder sliding on pillar lagged in hardwood planking with metal bands and having side rods linked to steam valve, over-type crank with brass oiler cups, the engine supported on four columns with 22cm spoked flywheel and small belt pulley. The model is finished in dark green paintwork with brightwork and mounted on shaped plinth 23cm by 21cm. Total height 40cm. * John George Bodmer was an engineer who came to England from Switzerland in 1816 and set up workshops in Bolton Lancashire. He was a prolific designer and had approximately 40 patents to his name.
