Pre-Columbian, Central Highlands of Mexico, Tlatilco, ca. 1200 to 500 BCE. A very nice example of one of the classic pieces of Mesoamerican art with an excellent provenance! This is a solid pottery standing female figure depicted with wide hips and arms outstretched; she wears an incised wide brim hat atop her head and there are some remaining traces of red and ocher surface pigment.
