Description
Pre-Columbian, Western Mexico, Michoacan, ca. 500 to 100 BCE. A large and handbuilt terracotta female "Pretty Lady" figure, standing with hands upon her hips, donning a headband incised with textile-inspired triangular motifs, large round earspools, and a grand pectoral with hanging ornaments. Her belly protrudes slightly perhaps indicating her fertile state. Some remaining traces of red cinnabar deposits on incised hair and body. Wood block stand. Size: 3.75" W x 7" H (9.5 cm x 17.8 cm)
