Description
Spice container. Augsburg, Germany, 1797-1799.
Silver (marked, mark of the city and the maker; the maker's mark is blurred), pierced, repouss? and engraved; partly gilt.
Designed as a two-story tower, with four turrets surmounted by flags. Another flag flies from the top of the uppermost story. Set on a round leg decorated with leaves. A flattened knob separates the leg from the container's body, which is cylindrical and decorated with brick, door and grating shapes.
Height: 19 cm. Base diameter: 8 cm.
