Description
From a prominent collection, an Adams & Westlake "Adams" bellbottom frame with P&RF RY stamped on the lid. The Portland & Rumford Falls Railway ran from Rumford Falls up to Oquossoc on Rangeley Lake. The Maine Central absorbed this line by 1912. The frame has the odd A&W flat verticals with pronounced rings where the horizontals come through. They wanted to avoid the expense and work of using joint clips. Joint clips work so this design was short lived. The twist off bell comes of easily. The metal is great.
The globe is a fine #39 with extended base and it has P&RFRY cast in pronounced lettering in a rectangular panel. It's a great globe and it's heavy. These frames and globes are really hard to find and anyone with one won't let it go.
