Toy Cradle, Rose Head Nails, Late 18th Century. Made as a gift for a young relative or friend, this small toy cradle of painted wood dates to the later 1780s-90s or early 1800s, making it around 200 years old. Despite the play wear, this is a lovely old hand crafted toy made of painted white pine and rose head nail construction. While the original apple green pain and red trim have darkened with age, overall is still very good. The cradle bears the initial “A”, presumably for “Ann” as there's an inscribion on the underside from to "Ann Hemingway" from a relative or friend.
