Description
Over-size 1804 Curtis hand-colored Artichoke engraving. Delicately hand-colored copperplate engraving from Curtis’s Botanical Magazine of 1804 is ideal for framing and displaying in a culinary setting. This special plate was one of the few large foldouts that Curtis produced. Most Curtis botanicals are on 5.5 x 9 sheets, but this one is the uncommon 9 x 11.25 sheet. The illustration was created by Syd Edwards. The plate no. is 770—the Protea Cynaroides (Artichoke Flowered Protea) that features many nuanced shades of exquisite hand-coloring.
