Including MAN VS. OCTOPUS, albumen print of wood carving sculpture. Mounted to sheet, mounted with paper corners to mat. From Frank (Francis) Brinkley's JAPAN: DESCRIBED AND ILLUSTRATED BY THE JAPANESE (Boston: J.B. Millet Company, 1897-1898), with accompanying description leaf. All other prints numbered on the prints, mounted to boards and hinged to mats. Prints: 9.5" x 7.5"; mats: 12" x 16". *** Kimbei Kusakabe (1841-1934) worked as a colourist for Felice BEATO and Baron Raimund von STILLFRIED before establishing his own studio. *Additional images and detailed condition reports available upon request.
