Description
Exceptional Stoneware Coin Bank with Profuse Cobalt Fuschia Vine Decoration, Greensboro or New Geneva, PA origin, circa 1875, squat-shaped form with tooled shoulder, slightly-domed lid with heavy tooling, and raised button finial. Decorated completely around the body with two rows of brushed cobalt fuschia vines. Additional cobalt highlights to top and finial. Slot in top surface. Old orange, red, and blue painted stripes to upper portion of bank. One of the most finely-decorated stoneware banks from the region known. Provenance: Dr. Raymond L. Owen Collection. Damage to slot. Reglued wedge on front with 1 1/2" hairline extending downward from it, colored along the crack lines. Restored chips to finial. H 5".
