Description
Unusual Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Pitcher with Incised and Coggled Decoration, Southern U.S. origin, possibly Texas, circa 1850-1880, small-sized, ovoid pitcher with footed base, tooled shoulder, and semi-squared rim molding, the surface covered in a salt glaze with overlying yellowish-green dip to upper half. Base with highly unusual coggled geometric decoration. Shoulder with incised sine-wave decoration. Provenance: Recently found in Texas. Spout chips. Several small rim chips. Some shallow chipping to base. H 8".
