Description
A George III mahogany and parcel gilt wall mirror, circa 1770, the rectangular plate within a gilt sight edge and pierced fretwork frame incorporating stylised foliate motifs, the twin scroll pediment surmounted by a carved giltwood model of a perched eagle depicted with its wings spread, 125cm high, 67cm wide This mirror relates closely to the work of John Houghton, who worked as a senior carver during the mid 18th century in Dublin.
