English, 19th century. A miniature brass cannon with an iron slug, mounted on a stained wood stand, having two mounted plaques to the sides reading "Relief of Lucknow./17th Sept. 1857" to one side, the other reading ""The Iron Slug struck/six inches deep into /the chest of the/CHARGER "CEDRIC"/Belonging to J. Jee, C.B.V.C., 78th Highlanders,/The horse recovered and afterwards Won/OUTRAMS Whip at ALUM BAGH". Provenance: From the Estate of Ms. Caroline F. Oglesby of Swainsboro, Georgia.
