Description
Alexandre-Louis-Marie Charpentier (French, 1856-1909), "Nursing Mother,"-1909, bronze, signed with monogram to lower right. A bronze wall-hanging plaque depicting a nursing mother and her infant. Framed approximately 13" x 10", unframed 6.25" x 9.325". Note: A larger version of this piece is in the collection of The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, California. According to the wall label, Charpentier, who was known for small bronze plaques used in furniture design, reproduced a smaller version of the larger plaque for the decoration of a nursery armoire, likely the original use of this piece.
