Description
Chinese, Qianlong Period (1736-1795) mark, likely of the period. An exquisite Mille Fleur decorated snuff bottle (lacking stopper) of flattened flask form having ruyi scepter form handles (one chipped) joining body to neck, the body with "thousand flower" hand painted enamel motif, the foot and mouth with blue meandering key patterning, and the handles with blue geometric patterning, allover with gilt accents to ground and vase rim. The underside with mark similar that of Qianlong Period surrounded by turqouise enamel. Provenance: From the Estate of Ms. Caroline F. Oglesby of Swainsboro, Georgia.
Condition
Wear commensurate with age and use. Small chip to one handle. Some white accretions to body. No other visible signs of damage or repair.
