Description

A William III eight-day musical longcase clock movement Unsigned, late 17th century The four finned and latched pillar movement with great wheel positioned towards the frontplate and anchor escapement for regulation via a seconds period pendulum to the going train, the musical train incorporating brass pin barrel for eleven hammers released on the hour via motionwork planted on the frontplate against an external locking plate to the rear, the inside countwheel hour striking train released via detent engaging with a pin on the music work locking plate sounding on a vertically mounted bell above the plates, with a set of three weight pulleys, (lacking dial, hands, musical hammer assembly, nest of bells, pendulum and weights), the movement plates 18.8cm (7.375ins) by 14.3cm (5.625ins).
