Description
Civil War
c. 1860 Civil War Autograph Historical Manuscript History of the Army of the Potomac in the Civil War
c. 1860-1862 Civil War Period, Extensive Autograph Historical Manuscript, 15 Pages, Octavo, on four separate leaves including three with a stunning Extra-Illustrated Color Print at the head, featuring an American Bald Eagle in flight carrying an American Flag, Very Fine.
This extensive 15 page Manuscript Document is accomplished in an unknown hand, apparently and very likely written by a very informed Union Soldier who had a contemporary knowledge of the events he here describes. The Civil War content is fantastic, written in a style which seems to have been intended to be published as an “informal” history. It stretches from the beginning of hostilities at Ft. Sumter, through the various historic Civil War battles of the Fall 1862 campaigns in Northern Virginia. There is some scattered tone to leaves and some separation at the centerfolds, yet on the whole, in very good condition with bright, clearly written and easily readable text. An excellent primary-source Document covering the first two years of the American Civil War.
