The group also includes a first edition of The Correspondence of Thomas Carlyle and Ralph Waldo Emerson. Boston: James R. Osgood and Company, 1883. Having two volumes, numbered 74 of 250 editions printed.
Each volume bound in three-quarter green morocco, with gilt spines, raised bands, and scrolled tooling, top edges gilt, and mottled green endpapers.

Condition
With fading to brown to most spines consistent with sunlight exposure. Almost all hinges cracked, and most boards are detached. However, the binding on all remains tight. Tanning to pages, especially to end pages. With rubbing to many spines, and some minor chipping to leather throughout. The text itself is in good used condition (MK).
