Description
Pair of American School portraits, featuring Palmer and Mary Cook, with Palmer holding a newspaper for the New York Enquirer, dated August 8, 1828 and Mary holding a small leather bound book, both sitting in matching painted and gilt Empire chairs. Attributed to Isaac Sheffield, active New York City and New London, Connecticut. Each portrait measuring 30 by 24 inches and in gilt and mahogany ogee frames measuring 40 by 34 inches. By descent through the O'Neil family, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Condition
Good condition with typical minor restorations and paintings having been relined in 1954. Minor losses to frames.
