...Drawne according to ye truest Descriptions latest Discoveries & best Observations yt have beene made by English or Strangers (London, 1659), un-colored copperplate engraving, third state, depicting a double-hemisphere map. Embellishments include allegorical figures of the elements Fire, Air, Earth and Water plus portraits of explorers Drake, Cavendish, Magellan and Van der Noort. The verso is pencil inscribed "Hist. of the World D. Patavius 1659," referring to the work of Dénis Peteau in which it was published. Presented behind mat in plain gilt wooden frame.
