DIXON GEORGE: (1895-1973) Canadian Fighter Ace (9 victories) of World War I. D.S., Geo C Dixon, in bold pencil, one page, 4to, n.p. (France), 2nd September 1918. The typescript document is a Combat Report, the narrative stating, in full 'Observed E[nemy] A[ircraft] flying near lines at 2000'. Formation of 5 S.E.s, dived on E.A., E.A. dived steeply S.E. fired 200 rounds at 150 yards range. S.E. followed E.A. down to 800' but was unable to see E.A. crash' at this point the report continues in typescript, added after the original statement was written 'owing to presence of other E.A.' Concluding, 'E.A. was out of control.' The statement relates to Dixon's 9th and last victory whilst piloting a Royal Aircraft Factory S.E. 5A. Countersigned at the foot by Robert Compston (1898-1962, English Aviator of World Wars I and II, awarded the DFC and DSC with two bars) in his capacity as Major., Commanding No 40 Squadron, R.A.F. Several file holes to the left edge and upper left corner, not affecting the text or signatures, and a few small, minor tears to the left edge, otherwise VG
