FLEMING ALEXANDER: (1881-1955) Scottish Biologist, Nobel Prize winner for Physiology or Medicine, 1945. T.L.S., A Fleming, one page, 8vo, Paddington, 15th January 1948, to Dr. I. G. Cobb, on the printed stationery of The Wright-Fleming Institute of Microbiology at St. Mary's Hospital. Fleming informs his correspondent 'I am sending you the manuscript of the article on chemotherapy for your "Aspects of Modern Science"' and remarks that he hopes it is what he wanted. Matted in green above an ink signature of Barbara Gammon (1922-2013, Fleming's last Ward Sister at St. Mary's Hospital) on a small 12mo card with a brief printed caption affixed below, and alongside a selection of images of or relating to Fleming and a bronze medallion featuring his image issued by the Royal Mint in a limited edition of 500. Framed and glazed in a wooden frame to an overall size of 13 x 15.5. VG
