Description
Autograph letter signed ('Napoleon Louis Bonaparte') to Mr Coghlan, written by the then-to-be Emperor Napoleon III during his London exile in the 1840s. It reads "I thought today that you could perhaps render me a service which would be the more agreable to me as it would greatly oblige me of my friends. M. Du Darqui's solicitor will explain you the matter, which is a very simple one but which is [quite?] difficult for me at present, my nearest acquaintances being out of town", one page, integral blank, the letter appears split in three parts in correspondence of the horizontal mailing folds, light age toning, embossed initials, 8vo , King Street, 9 October 1847.
