Description
A very fine pair of cased saw handle dueling pistols signed A. W. SPIES. Each percussion black-powder pistol with an octagonal 14-bore barrel, engraved iron hardware, checkered grip, engraved German silver butt ring and plate with hinged steel opening, engraved German silver spur trigger guards, an inlaid German silver oval with engraved initial 'P' set in top of the saw handle, one rod is an old replacement. The name A. W. Spies is engraved on the box lock of each gun by the same hand as all other engraved decoration. Spies was an American dealer and manufacturer who also marked the firearms made by both English and American makers. The simplistic engraving here suggests American manufacture. Each measures 14.5 x 6 inches. We happily provide seamless in-house packing and shipping services on nearly everything we sell.
Condition
Very good condition noting wear to the original finish of each barrel, no major damage or repair, one replaced rod.
