Revooutionary War 1780 David Rittenhouse astronomer believed to have built the first telescope in America. Served in the PA assembly in the Revolutionary War, first director of the US Mint. Reads Philadelphia 13, March 1780 Pay Walter Hall four Hundered Pounds being in full for his services to this day/David Rittenhouse Esqr/State Treasurer. Cosigned by John Nixon, and J.M. Nesbitt.rnJohn Nixon gave the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence to a crowd at Independance Square in Philadelphia July 8,1776. He was Brigadier with Washington's army.. Nesbitt was Treasureer for the Pennsylvania Board of War during the Revolution. Clear large signatures, measures 3 1/2 by 8 inches, paper rough edges as shown, scarce!
