A Large Bronze Figure of Mercury, after Giambologna
Marks: Jean de Bologne
40-3/4 inches high (103.5 cm)
The figure after the 1580 sculpture at the Villa Medici, depicting Mercury with winged cap and feet, caduceus in left hand, right arm outstretching clutching bag, issuing forth from the mouth of Zephyr, raised on variegated marble plinth inset with bronze relief depicting a host of Roman deities.

Condition
Caduceus loose and threaded joint may be a later repair and is observed with breach to interior shaft near base, light chipping and flaking to base, with wear commensurate with age and use.
Mercury figure measures 31 inches high.
