An Exceptionnaly large Yoruba shango Staff Nigeria Height: 73.7cm. (29in.) Circa 1910. Provenance: Simon Escarré (1909-1999) Sale: Sotheby's, New York, 18 November 2000, lot 85 The cylindrical shaft supporting a round base on which a figure is kneeling; hands holding implements, the rounded head set under a large bow-tie shaped protrusion, fine brown patina. All lots in this sale have been imported from outside the EU and are under Temporary Admission, therefore the buyer must pay the import VAT at the rate of 5% on the Hammer Price.
