Monumental 54 in. French Figural Conical Pendulum Mystery Clock, Large spelter sculpture of an iron worker tilted “Le Travail” after Charles Perron, depicts a standing figure of a man balancing a hammer on an anvil and holding up the timepiece in his other hand swinging from 3 chains with a bob in the center. Has a 4 spring and brass suspension cluster with large 6.25 in. dia. sphere hanging from 3 chains with lion head mounts and turned teardrop finial, the post on top of the sphere is powered by the movement which rotates clockwise, countered by the weight of the bob which regulates the time; the front of the sphere has applied Roman hour numerals and pierced filigree decorated hands which make up the dial. The round French brass 8 day spring driven movement signed “GLT, Paris, 9940” (A.R. Guilmet) has an half hour countwheel strike on a bell, in good overall condition, running and striking, has key. 54 in. high x 15 in. dia. x 21 in. deep.
