Description
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A miniature cast bronze bull head of a simple form, with horns splayed out from the top of its head and small incised circles for nostrils and eyes. Bucrania were common forms of applied decoration in the Roman world, with the motif repeated in architectural features, on pottery, on furniture, etc. They celebrated the religious practice of sacrificing bulls. Comes with custom stand. Size: 1.55" W x 1.4" H (3.9 cm x 3.6 cm); height on stand: 2" (5.1 cm)
