Description
Rome, North African, 3rd to 4th centuries CE. A redware lidded jar in beautiful condition with simple lines and little decoration. North Africa was one of Rome's wealthiest provinces. This type of pottery is known as African Terra Sigilata, referring to the method used to seal the red slip onto the pottery during the kilning process. These objects were mold made and traded far and wide. Size: 6.5" W x 3.5" H (16.5 cm x 8.9 cm)
