Description
A fine Persian pottery fragment, Seljuk Period, ca. 1200 AD. This lovely Mina'i polychrome example from Kashan is 4 in in diameter, was the central scene of a large plate and depicts a pair of beautifully attired figures underneath a fruit tree. Most likely this portrays a scene of princely life or an episode from a celebrated poetic text. Painted over a vivid turquoise background in delicate detail. Mounted on stand. Ex Vick estate.
