Description
These were manufactured by Mauser for military contract sale to Portugal. Military Mauser banner stamp on toggle. The intertwined GNR stamped on chamber stands for "Garde Nationale Republicanie" (Republic National Guard). These were manufactured in 1935. Production consisted of a mere 564 pistols, exact. This fine example consists of all matching numbers; walnut grips not stamped. Has a blued steel Waffenamt stamped aluminum bottom incorrect magazine. The lower safety area of frame stamped "Seguranca". pistol exhibits strong straw colors on small parts. Has grip safety. Grip straps and trigger guard have patinad out. 30% blue on sideplate. Thinning blue on left side of barrel, approximately 80% remains. Usual high edge rail wear. Frame retains approximately 80% origina blue. Near mint bore and perfect action. Comes in an unmarked original holster with loading tool, missing one belt loop. Front of holster is stamped 1638.
