Description
According to the factory letter this gun was shipped with a 5-1/2" barrel and factory nickel finish, grips not listed. Shipped to Colt's London Agency on May 13, 1880. Caliber is simply listed as ".45/c" and trigger bow is stamped ".45 caliber". The .455 English round fits perfectly, .45 Colt will not chamber. This is a full factory nickel gun to include the hammer, trigger and lanyard ring. Top of barrel has the Pall Mall London address. Each cylinder stamp bears the English proof mark. This is an early model with the large grip frame referred to as the fat grip. The grips are standard Colt logo gutta percha. Revolver does not appear to have been fired. Mint bore and indexes perfectly. Retains virtually all of the factory nickel finish. Near mint grips. It would be impossible to improve upon this English Colt. The oak box has the lid screws with brass medallion, inside label, blue lining and includes nickel plated oil bottle, ebony turn screw and brass head cleaning rod. Still has case key. The only wear is a couple of spots is a couple spots of bubbling on the side plate disc, about the size of a pin head. Beautiful, all original 1870 Colt.
