Description
Under the Nazi occupation of Norway from 1940 to 1945, production of the Model 1914, which had ended in 1933, was resumed as the Pistole 657 for issue to German forces in Norway. This pistol is dated 1945 on the right side of the slide which is a bit higher than the listed ending serial number 30500, which was the final small batch manufactured after the war for the Norwegian military. This pistol does not bear any Nazi occupation proof marks, so while dated 1945 this gun was part of the batch of pistols assembled after the war. The barrel is a blued Hi-Standard marked example. Gun has all matching serial numbers. The diamond checkered walnut grips are a proper style replacement. Magazine is a correct Norwegian style with lanyard and pinned base similar to Colt Type III and has been refinished. Pistol retains approximately 95% of the reapplied commercial style blue finish. Bore and action are perfect. Pistol has the numbered flat mainspring housing, short checkered wide spur trigger, checkered and numbered slide stop and safety, and numbered long smooth trigger. Extremely difficult to find examples of this pistol in the United States. Serial Number-31710; Manufacturer-Norwegian; Model-1911; Caliber-11.25mm (.45 ACP); Barrel Length-5"; FFL Status-Curio & Relic;
