Mounted Tall Case Clock
late 19th century, dial engraved "Chas. Jacques Clock Co., 22 Cortlandt St. New York" and "Elliott London", silvered and gilt brass dial with painted moon phase, chime silent, Whittington and Westminster chimes, three weights, pendulum and winder, elaborately inlaid case set with stop-fluted brass-inset quarter columns, 95 x 24 x 14-1/2 in.. Condition: case in excellent condition with minor surface flaws including crack at base panel, moon phase with flaking and losses to paint, the dial otherwise good condition with some losses to silvering from polish. Notes: A notable South Carolinian, Wylie was a soldier, engineer, physician, surgeon and entrepreneur. In 1920, the University of South Carolina awarded Wylie its McMaster Gold Medal as the alumnus of the college who had done the most for humanities..
