[Ecclesiastes or, The Preacher], copied & illustrated by Ben Shahn. Paris: Trianon Press, 1967, first edition, no. 18 of the edition of 200 printed on Arches Verge pure rag paper,and from a total edition of 240, accompanied by the signed lithograph [Ecclesiastes Man ], 13-3/8 x 10-3/16 in.(sheet), framed, book bound in full green crushed morocco leather with gilt lettered spine, signed, lithograph, collotype and stencilling on paper; book within Plexiglass case,. Condition: some toning, lithograph not examined out of frame, spine and cover with fading at edges, abrasion, lacking slipcase. Notes: Text on justification page:
"The illustrations were produced in facsimile in Paris by a combination of lithography, collotype and hand-stencilling in the workshops of the Imprimerie Mourlot for the lithography and of MM. Hourdebaigt and Crampe for the colloype and stencil. Collotype and hand-stencilling were also used for the reproduction of the manuscript pages and illuminated chapter headings. The gold lettering which forms part of the title-page motif as produced in serigraphy by Thierry, Paris. The editorial matter was handset in Gramond and printed by the Imprimerie La Ruche, Paris. The binding was by Engel, Malakoff...The volume was produced under the supervision of the Artist and Arnold Fawcus...".
