Item Details

Description

Japanese Earthenware Vase with Cranes 20.75" high X 12.5" diameter. The attribute the vase to the Meiji period and similar to the Satsuma works of Kinkozan. Vase is decorated in beautiful landscape floral scenes with cranes. The vase is signed on the body, which is most likely a reference to the scene. The vase is not signed on the base. If the vase was ever signed on the base it was lost when it was drilled and converted to a lamp. Kennedy's Auction Service does not provide auction estimates. All items are sold at absolute unreserved auction. The bidders and the market set the price.

Condition

Condition - The vase has a .75" very faint hairline crack at top rim. Overall the vase is in very good condition. No chips or damage. The decoration has some very minor losses. Base of lamp has a small hole drilled for lamp conversion.
