Description
An antique nice quality Japanese vase from the Meiji era, 1868 to 1912. Of a baluster form, with superb decoration depicting a group of 3 cranes in a polychrome cloisonne enamel on a glossy black ground. No visible hallmarks. In Japanese folklore, the crane (or Tsuru in Japanese) is a strong majestic bird that mates for life and is said to live for a thousand years.
