American School, late 19th century. "Portrait of a Young Girl", oil on canvas, apparently unsigned. Bust length portrait painting with chiaroscuro rendering of light, depicting a young girl with hair pulled back and adorned with small red flower, with rosy cheeks and white collar emerging from black gown. Framed approximately 26.25" x 22.25". Unframed approximately 20" x 16".

Painting is re-lined as well as wax lined. In-painting detected under black light inspection; largely contained to figure's cheek; not distracting under normal light conditions. No noticeable losses or tears. Some scattered vertical surface abrasions; not distracting.
