Bronze. Nepal, approx. 18th to 19th cent.An especially carefully crafted bronze sculpture! Shakyamuni sits on a lotus throne in padmasana (lotus pose) and touches the earth with one hand in the so-called bhumisparsha mudra, sign of his victory over Mara. Finely designed facial features with lowered eyes, urna on the forehead, a little lotus bud on the ushnisha. Detachable halo with dynamic flaming relief, the upper section as "flaming juwel" cintamani. Strong patina, rest of old lacquer painting.HEIGHT 15,7 CMFrom an German private collection
