Ming Dynasty Chinese gilt bronze seated Bodhisattva figure of Maitreya Buddha, the One of Love, currently residing in the Tushita heaven, the next Buddha to appear in the world.
Peaceful in appearance, naturally painted face. The two hands are placed at the heart performing the mudra (gesture) of Dharma Teaching. Adorned with many jewel crown, the black hair - some falling loose - piled on the top of the head is adorned with jewels. Further jewel earrings, necklaces, bracelets, a waist belt, anklets and silks, across the shoulders and as a lower garment, adorn the body. Sits upright atop a rectangular lotus throne.
Underside with incised quatrefoil flori-form petal visvavajra gilt mark surrounding the centralized DaiJi.

Mark on reverse pedestal, incised six script -KaiShu- characters mark, YongLe Reign Period of Great Ming

Dimension: 13-1/4" H

Over all in EXCELLENT condition. With normal anomalies in nature, sign of stressed surface, minor scratch & dents. Surface traced wear and or declined to gilding. . Normal, consider ages and wear.
