Description
PuRu (Manchurian, 1896-1963), Manchurian ink calligraphy couplet on paper. Each with seven characters vertical inscription, normal script, signed by artist, initialed two iron-red signature seals. Black ink on silver dragon & clouds motif over grayish ground paper. Set behind glass, Wooden framed.

Dimension: 50" L x 26" W

PROVENANCE:
From the collection of General Chen Qi (陳淇) (1912-2000), who styled himself as “Cangquan” (滄泉)and “Yuquanshanren”(玉泉山人), an artist, calligrapher, a prominent businessman and private antiques collector.

Pu Ru (Manchurian, 1896-1963), courtesy name Xinyu, was a native of Beijing, and a member of the Manchu imperial family, born near the end of the Qing Dynasty. He was cousin to the last emperor Pu Yi and was one of the children who presented themselves at the palace as candidates for the future emperor. Pu Ru was reputed to be as talented as the famous southern artist Zhang Daqian. Together, they became known as "Pu of the North and Zhang of the South."

Over all in EXCELLENT Condition. Natural imperfection on the medium (paper or silk), regardless from any major damages; includes light blooms, discoloration and minor fading. Consider normal due to the ages.
