Description
Lu Yanshao (Chinese; 1909 - 1993), dated in Feb 1985, Chinese ink and color painting on paper. A presented paintings as gifts to General Chen Qi and his wife. Hand painted with spontaneous brushstrokes of Autumn landscape. Themed calligraphy inscription on upper right, signed and dated by artist, Lu Yanshao, followed by two iron-red seals and additional seal on lower left.
Mounted on pale-celadon silk border, set behind glass and wooden framed.

Dimension: 47" L x 24-1/4" W

PROVENANCE:
From the collection of General Chen Qi (陳淇) (1912-2000), who styled himself as “Cangquan” (滄泉)and “Yuquanshanren”(玉泉山人), an artist, calligrapher, a prominent businessman and private antiques collector.

LOT NOTES:

Lu Yanshao (1909 - 1993) was a Chinese painter. In 1927 he followed Wang Tongyu to study poetry and calligraphy, then the Shanghai painter Feng Chaoran became Lu's advisor. In 1938 he held his exhibition for the first time. In 1955 he began to work for Chinese Painting Academy in Shanghai. His career silenced during the Cultural Revolution, until the 1970s. Lu inherited the skill of Four Wangs, favored building brushstrokes spontaneously rather than following outlines.
Condition
Over all in EXCELLENT Condition. Natural imperfection on the medium (paper or silk), regardless from any major damages; includes light blooms, discoloration and minor fading. Consider normal due to the ages.
